300 or 400 years ago the girl would have been substantially more mature by the age of 11. By that time, she would have spent a fair amount of time helping her own mother with her younger brothers and sisters, so she would be fairly aware of how to take care of children etc. Not that I'm saying it would have been a good idea even then, but you can't take the same people and just move them through time. People matured a whole lot faster back then because they had to.

I didn't get "fashion" so much as "desirability" out of that. I.E: "White women are more desirable than dark skinned women."That being said, I'm not sure it's the advertiser's fault. These devices have always been a slippery slope. How quickly they went from an alternative to lethal force, to a compliance device or cattle prod for humans. It seriously blows my mind that we live in a day and age where the public generally accepts the fact that people are shocked into compliance by our police officers for as little as having a 'bad attitude' during a routine traffic stop.
