the white house spends 3 billion dollars on cash for clunkers but wont even spend a billion to help send man back to the Moon.
Yes states can fund items that are in the state, like schools and hospitals and the police. But who funds federal programs, like the military? I suppose we could have each state defend itself with its own militia, and when we had a war we would mobilize a portion of each militia. Or we could have federal sales taxes in addition to state and local sales taxesBut if each state runs its own budget, and provides for its own defense, and receives no federal funding, then wouldn't we be more of a..... confederacy?Wait, I seem to remember something about some conflict about states rights versus federal rights and taxation and whatnot. As I remember it, the confederacy idea lost. They lost and, ironically, were forced to pay the first income taxes. In any event, the taxes have to get paid somehow. Before or after you purchase something doesn't really matter. Your state doesn't charge any income tax. Great. But you have a higher sales tax. Your state is setup to attract workers, my state is setup to attract consumers (tourists).

Seriously, how many people die in that time period? I don't see this as much of a big deal.I think it would be quiet expensive for the states to set up systems to prevent this.Just make sure the person can't vote next time, would make me plenty happy..

I agree, I thought that too much was revealed too quickly. I hope that we can get some great character development now but I doubt it.?
So I've always wondered with this....what happens if you suddenly get a woodie? |

Well we originally went out there to destroy the Taliban, but then Bush decided to go to Iraq. Many other side tracks later Afghanistan is no longer Taliban controlled (there off in the mountains some where), but now it's pretty much chaos due to the regions instability and our neglect. Should we call the job done? Honestly, I'm not sure either way...

If we rounded up Iraqi insurgents and mutilated and beat them to death we could end the bombings too but were better than that. |
