| I dunno, a lot of this music just sounds like typical crap metal to me...However, Tim Follin is ***** amazing. This has to be my favorite intro music of all time:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2ocMuLx_1k |

I'd agree with you ... in fact, I did if you look up above. But it turns out the fellow turned his chair over to cops in exchange for dropping one of the DUI charges. It was a fair exchange, it seems.

I'm not convinced that piracy drives tax revenue down -- though down it may be. I think people buy just as much as they can and get taxed for it; if they don't spend money on movies then they have more money for clothes or dining out...So, I'm not sure that pandering to the MPAA will generate greater tax revenue. Moreover, I don't think that the MPAA can possibly put this genie back in the jar: even if they manage to scare people out of downloading movies they can't hope to stop people from renting them and copying them...And, in the meantime, pursuing these crazy machinations only alienates loyal customers. Personally, I never even considered downloading or even copying a CD recoded by a living artist until RIAA started suing kids and their moms!Really, it would be better for the MPAA if they could adjust their business model to stop the bleeding and just get over the fact that the pendulum is swinging back the other way on the entertainment industry (which, I seem to recall, was, once upon a time, no way to make money).?
I think those loans were extended to all of the Big 3, and I *think* (but admit I'm not sure) we also offered to the others that have manufacturing here. |

I know It's Halo and Digg hates Halo and whatever but I have to admit, as a Halo fan, I found all Six Halo novels to be incredibly well written, fleshed out interesting side stories and provided exciting additions to such a brilliant universe. I believe they're well worthy of recognition and those even remotely interested in Halo lore should read them. (Especially 'The fall of Reach')

I went out and bought nearly all of the remasters, and you know what? They sound good, but they're nearly identical to the sound of the '87 CDs (most of which I still have). The main thing I noticed is that the remasters are a bit louder, but there is no obvious improvement in sound quality. You have to remember that even though they are mastered at 24-bit/192 kHz, they are still downsampled to 16-bit/44.1 kHz for CD. Hence, there is virtually no improvement over the original CD releases.I would be impressed if they remastered them onto SACD, then you could truly listen to the 24-bit quality and you would definitely hear a difference. |
